Develop and construct highly intricate tools, dies, jigs, fixtures,and gauges, where accurate relationships, fitting, and interchangeability of parts require maintenance of extremely close tolerances. Devise special mechanisms to meet or obtain specific requirements. Determine metal flow in dies, select allowances, and perform development work. Make tool prototypes, diagnose and correct problems.
High school diploma, or equivalent. 10+ years similar experience. Ability to work with minimal supervision.

SUMMARY: Design and develop a wide variety of electrical connectors. Typical applications be for the industrial, automotive, medical, appliance, and consumer markets. DUTIES: Full responsibility for the design/development of electrical/electronic connector products. Develop innovative proposals/solutions for Customer applications. Responsible for the design effort from concept to production release: Creation of full product documentation. Solid Modeling CAD (SolidEdge software), sheet metal design for formed contacts. Use Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and perform tolerance analyses. Specify and use appropriate connector technology and materials (metals, engineering plastics, contact plating): Apply basic principles of interconnection theory. Perform contact spring design (Finite Element Analysis…Cosmos or other software). Create test specifications, analyze data, prepare reports and technical papers. Prepare APQP documentation in accordance with TS16949 and Company Quality procedures. Apply thorough knowledge of connector manufacturing processes to develop cost effective competitive products. Participate in Program Management activities and foster Team Oriented working relationships. Provide technical direction to other Engineers for their design programs with respect to Design Concept, Detail Mechanical Design, Materials, Prototyping, Testing and overall technologies to be employed to accomplish the design goals defined by Customers and Product Management. Work with Sales, Marketing and Customers to define and prepare Product Development & Performance Specifications. Assist in Technical Sales efforts and make Customer visits, write technical papers and give presentations to Customers and at Industry Conferences as required. Prepare design specifications, lessons learned documentation, and “design rules” to assist other autosplice locations in their design efforts.
A four year Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent experience with an extensive and varied product background in the design of Electrical/Electronic Connectors for several markets. 10 years minimum Connector Engineering experience with full responsibility for product development and documentation efforts. Compliant Pin technology knowledge is highly desirable. Experience in Solid Modeling is required. SolidEdge training will be provided if necessary. Leadership responsibility on a Product or Program basis. Mentorship of other Project Engineers.

Able to deal directly with customers on new designs, quality issues, etc.
SUMMARY: This is a high visibility senior management position reporting to the President. The strategic mission is to provide strong engineering leadership in developing and manufacturing new interconnection products and equipment for Autosplice on a worldwide basis. These products will support the company’s strategy of providing our customers with innovative solutions to their interconnection needs using a systems approach (machines and components). DUTIES: Provide leadership and guidance to all portions of the North American engineering organization. This includes the connector/component design, advanced manufacturing and machine engineering departments. Provide leadership for all global engineering initiatives. Examples of these include product and process Centers of Competence, standardized application engineering platforms for internal and customer use, common die and mold designs to ensure portability of tools and consistent product development processes. Provide guidance and leadership to the engineering function on issues related to TS16949. Implement disciplined engineering review and tracking processes to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of new products and extensions to products. Guide new product development activities from inception through start-up production. Provide sales and marketing with early involvement support on new applications. Prepare and present to customers the Autosplice technology roadmap. Support the sales and marketing team by ensuring periodic visits to customers occur for strategic programs from the engineering organization. Visit key customers personally as required. Act as the primary source of technical expertise for the company by staying abreast of current technology in the interconnect field. Direct the conceptualizing, planning and standardization of key pieces of production equipment needed to support new product programs. Provide leadership in improving existing manufacturing process and efficiency. Establish a good working relationship with all engineering organizations within Autosplice divisions. This includes ensuring the exchange of technical information, new product and process ideas and best demonstrated practices. 15+ years experience in product development engineering, preferable in the connector industry with one of the leading companies; AMP/Tyco, Amphenol, Molex, FCI, Augat, Methode, Honda, Fujitsu, etc. Experience in managing a full range regional engineering organization (product and process design/implementation). Experience in managing a global engineering organization is a plus. University undergraduate degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is required. An advanced degree is a plus. Demonstrated leadership ability. Record of past accomplishments in product/development engineering. Required computer skills include appropriate office and engineering software.
